ABOUT
My primary focus is on supporting adolescent and young adult populations, with a particular emphasis on minority, newcomer, and Indigenous communities. I am dedicated to understanding the unique experiences and challenges faced by these groups, striving to create environments that foster resilience, growth, and empowerment. I emphasize the importance of trauma-informed and culturally aware practices, ensuring that interventions are not only sensitive to cultural differences but also grounded in an understanding of the historical factors that impact these populations. My goal is to design inclusive, respectful approaches that promote well-being and facilitate meaningful connections within these diverse communities. I utilize a variety of therapeutic approaches to meet the unique needs of individuals, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Narrative Therapy. These modalities allow me to work collaboratively with clients to challenge negative thought patterns, build emotional regulation skills, and reframe their personal stories in ways that promote healing and growth. Additionally, I integrate attachment-based therapy to help clients understand the impact of early relationships on their emotional development. A key component of my approach is trauma-informed care, ensuring that all interventions are sensitive to the effects of trauma and prioritize safety, empowerment, and trust throughout the therapeutic process.
I'm committed to creating a space where you feel safe, respected, and truly understood. I work primarily with individuals from marginalized and minority communities, recognizing the profound ways in which racism, cultural disconnection, and family history can shape your mental health and sense of identity. You don’t have to face these challenges alone. I am here to support you, helping you explore your experiences and fostering a sense of grounding and empowerment as we work together towards healing. I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors, holding a Master’s degree in Child and Youth Care and over seven years of experience supporting youth and their families. Throughout my career, I have worked in diverse settings, including schools, community organizations, and with the Ministry of Children and Family Development. I also have specialized experience working with Indigenous youth, which has deepened my understanding of how trauma, identity, and systemic factors can impact a young person’s life. I am passionate about building strong, honest relationships with those I work with, as I believe healing begins when individuals feel safe, supported, and truly heard.
